Ficha del GO AgroHub Madrid: Centro de innovación de distribución regional para fortalecer el scaling-up del circuito corto
Los FoodHub son infraestructuras adecuadas para resolver los limitantes que impiden aumentar el impacto y el alcance de los circuitos cortos alimentarios de pequeños y medianos agricultores, de modo que los alimentos locales puedan llegar a los mercados que actualmente son atendidos por grandes distribuidores del sector agroalimentario (Kennedy, 2007; Izumi, Wright y Hamn, 2010). Se entiende por FoodHub un centro alimentario ubicado dentro del área metropolitana con una estructura de gestión empresarial que facilita la agregación, almacenamiento, procesamiento, distribución y comercialización de alimentarios producidos localmente/regionalmente (Barham 2012, USDA Marketing Service).
