Pilot Test of Remote Sensing and Phytosanitary Treatment Management in Vineyards

Vineyard management system based on real-time epidemiological modelling and telemetric data for reduced phytosanitary treatment use

Detaillierte Beschreibung

SISTEMIO validates a vineyard management system using real-time agro-meteorological data and epidemiological models to reduce phytosanitary treatments in Catalan vineyards. The project deployed 18 telemetric stations monitoring temperature, humidity, rain, and leaf wetness, transmitting data via GPRS to a central server. Integrated with the Vite.net decision support system, the platform provides real-time forecasts of downy and powdery mildew risk, enabling precise, data-driven treatment decisions. Designed for plot-specific conditions—such as grape variety and cultivation method—the system ensures optimal disease control with minimal interventions. Technical teams and ADVs followed Vite.net recommendations under coordination by INVACI and SSV, maintaining high protection levels throughout the 2017 pilot phase. Funded under the 2015 Innovative Pilot Projects Call, this initiative advances sustainable, ecologically sound viticulture in Catalonia.
